The invitation was extended by Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who formally invited Ayaz Sadiq to attend the funeral. The National Assembly Secretariat has also received the official invitation letter.

The funeral prayers for Ayatollah Ali Khamenei are expected to be held on July 3, with senior representatives and official delegations from several countries anticipated to participate. During the visit, Ayaz Sadiq will attend the funeral on behalf of Pakistan and convey the country's condolences and participation in the state ceremony.

The visit comes amid growing cooperation between Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F). Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Maulana Fazlur Rehman recently discussed the political situation, highlighting increased PPP-JUI-F collaboration.
