Security Review in Vehari for Muharram

Punjab Minister for School Education Rana Sikandar Hayat and Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Salma Butt visited Vehari on the directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to assess security and administrative preparations for Muharram-ul-Haram.

The delegation toured the District Control Room, where Deputy Commissioner Khalid Javed Goraya and District Police Officer Tasawar Iqbal provided a comprehensive briefing on security arrangements, surveillance mechanisms, and contingency plans for Muharram processions and religious gatherings. Member of the Provincial Assembly Mian Saqib Khurshid also accompanied the delegation.

Live Monitoring and Surveillance

The officials reviewed live monitoring of procession routes and inspected surveillance cameras, communication systems, and operational facilities at the control room. They were briefed on the district’s Muharram security plan, including the number and classification of processions and majalis, designated routes, timings, sensitive locations, and cyber monitoring measures.

Authorities also informed the delegation about public facilitation services being provided along procession routes, including mobile and permanent sabeels, clinic-on-wheels facilities, mist spray units, water sprinkling arrangements, and mobile washrooms.

Directives for Continuous Monitoring

Rana Sikandar Hayat directed district authorities to ensure continuous monitoring of all religious events and maintain effective coordination among relevant departments to preserve peace and security during Muharram. He also appreciated the contributions of the Milli Yakjehti Council in promoting inter-sect harmony and supporting efforts to maintain law and order.

Expressing satisfaction with the preparations, Rana Sikandar Hayat and Salma Butt commended the performance of officials and staff working in the control room and conveyed the appreciation of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for their efforts.

Rail Bazaar Beautification Project

During the visit, the delegation was also briefed on the Rail Bazaar beautification project, which received praise from the visiting officials. Senior administrative officers and representatives of relevant departments were present on the occasion.
