Pakistan Army Reaffirms Resolve to Eliminate Terrorism

The Pakistan Army on Monday reaffirmed its resolve to eliminate terrorism, defend national sovereignty and accelerate military modernisation during the 276th Corps Commanders' Conference held at the General Headquarters. The conference was chaired by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, and reviewed the country's security environment, regional developments and the operational preparedness of the Armed Forces, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

Tribute to Martyrs and Concerns Over Afghan Soil

The participants offered Fateha for the martyrs, stating that their sacrifices remain the foundation of Pakistan's security, unity and resilience. The forum expressed grave concern over what it described as Indian-backed terrorist groups operating from areas under the control of the Afghan Taliban, alleging that such groups continued to carry out attacks against Pakistan. The military leadership said lasting peace and stability in the region depended on preventing Afghan territory from being used for terrorist activities against Pakistan. It stressed that the Afghan Taliban leadership was responsible for ensuring that areas under its control were not used to launch attacks against the country.

Operation Ghaib-ul-Haq and Governance

The conference reaffirmed Pakistan's right to defend its people against terrorism and announced that intelligence-based operations against terrorist threats originating from Afghan Taliban-controlled areas would continue under Operation Ghaib-ul-Haq. The commanders also underscored the need for effective governance in terrorism-affected areas, stressing that public welfare and the dismantling of the nexus between terrorism and organised crime supported by political patronage were essential for lasting stability.

Hybrid Warfare and Disinformation

Reviewing the broader security environment, the forum said hostile elements were attempting to destabilise Pakistan through hybrid warfare and disinformation campaigns after what it described as a defeat in the 'battle of truth.' It pledged that any externally backed attempt to create unrest would be dealt with decisively.

Regional Peace and Water Rights

The conference also paid tribute to Pakistan's role in promoting regional peace and reducing tensions. It reviewed India's statements on the Indus Waters Treaty and reiterated that the National Security Committee's decisions of April 24, 2025, remained Pakistan's official position. The participants said the Armed Forces would take all necessary measures, in line with government directives, to safeguard Pakistan's legitimate share of water.

Kashmir Stance and Modernisation

Reaffirming Pakistan's stance on Kashmir, the forum described the territory as the country's jugular vein and said durable regional peace depended on granting the Kashmiri people their right to self-determination in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions. Concluding the conference, Field Marshal Asim Munir directed commanders to ensure the swift implementation of the Multi-Domain Transformation Plan to meet the demands of modern warfare, while reaffirming that Pakistan's sovereignty and national interests would be protected at all costs.
