In a significant move toward public accountability, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore held its monthly Open Court session this Saturday, providing citizens with direct access to top officials for grievance resolution.
Senior Officials Engage Directly With Complainants
The session was presided over by Deputy Chairman NAB Sohail Nasir, Prosecutor General Accountability Ahtisham Qadir Shah, and Director General NAB Lahore Mirza Faran Baig. The high-level participation demonstrated the bureau's serious approach to addressing public concerns about pending cases and fraudulent activities.
Nearly 450 complainants appeared before the officials during the session, with the majority being victims of fraudulent housing and real estate schemes that have plagued the region. The affected societies included:

Immediate Action and Financial Relief Provided
During the open court proceedings, the NAB leadership issued prompt directives for action on all complaints presented by citizens. In a significant development, cheques worth approximately Rs88 million were distributed among victims of Khayaban-e-Amin Housing Society, providing much-needed financial relief to affected families.
DG NAB Lahore Mirza Faran Baig reiterated the bureau's zero-tolerance policy against those involved in defrauding the public and emphasized the timely return of recovered funds to victims. He assured participants that NAB remains committed to ensuring justice for all affectees without any compromise.
The officials reported substantial progress in the Khayaban-e-Amin case, noting that 80 percent of affectees have been settled so far. Directives were issued to accelerate remaining recoveries and disbursements to complete the resolution process.
Transparency and Public Appreciation
Participants at the open court session appreciated NAB Lahore's proactive approach under DG Mirza Faran Baig's leadership. Many termed these open court sessions a vital platform for transparency, direct communication, and swift resolution of public complaints.
The Deputy Chairman NAB also sought detailed progress reports on ongoing investigations, with particular focus on challenges faced by victims in various cases. This comprehensive review mechanism ensures that cases don't remain stagnant and victims receive timely justice.
The successful resolution of 1,005 land disputes in Punjab within 48 hours was also highlighted during the proceedings, demonstrating the effectiveness of coordinated efforts between different government departments in addressing public grievances.
The monthly Open Court initiative continues to strengthen public trust in accountability institutions while providing an efficient mechanism for addressing financial fraud complaints that affect ordinary citizens across various housing and investment schemes.
