The Punjab government has initiated a series of practical measures aimed at crime elimination and the rehabilitation of former outlaws, as part of its plan to integrate marginalized regions into the national mainstream. Commissioner Bahawalpur Division, Irfan Ali Kathia, and Regional Police Officer (RPO), Ghazi Muhammad Salahuddin, visited the Nawazabad area of Kacha, accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Zahir Anwar Jappa and DPO Irfan Ali Samon. The officials met with members of the Chamber of Commerce, civil society, and local elders.
Voluntary Surrender and Livelihood Support
A highlight of the ceremony was the participation of individuals who have renounced their criminal past to surrender voluntarily. To ensure sustainable livelihoods, the administration distributed livestock, loader rickshaws, shop inventory, and other business assets among 31 deserving families.
Development Plans for Kacha
Addressing the gathering, Commissioner Kathia claimed that within six months, the landscape of Kacha will transform with the commencement of work on roads, hospitals, and educational institutions. RPO Ghazi Muhammad Salahuddin lauded the courage of those who surrendered, noting that the current peace is the result of a coordinated effort between the Punjab and Sindh governments, intelligence agencies, and local administration.
