Peshawar - Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Wednesday said that the holy month of Muharram teaches the values of patience, tolerance, sacrifice, truthfulness and steadfastness against cruelty. In a special message, the Governor said the tragedy of Karbala was not merely a historical event but a timeless lesson for humanity, demonstrating that every sacrifice could be made in the cause of truth and justice.
He said Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his devoted companions laid down their lives, wealth and families for the supremacy of Islam, the establishment of justice and the struggle against falsehood, setting an enduring example for future generations. Faisal Kundi urged people to embrace the message of Karbala by promoting tolerance, harmony, unity, brotherhood and mutual respect during Muharram.
He appealed to religious scholars, spiritual leaders, representatives of all schools of thought and the general public to strengthen sectarian harmony, respect for sacred beliefs and national unity, while remaining vigilant against elements seeking to disrupt peace. The Governor said hostile forces, particularly Fitna Al-Khawarij allegedly backed and supported by India, could attempt to disturb law and order and spread fear during Muharram.
He called on the public to fully cooperate with law enforcement agencies, security forces and the district administration, promptly report suspicious activities and play their role in safeguarding national security. He expressed confidence that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, who have always demonstrated a strong commitment to peace, unity and patriotism, would once again ensure that Muharram was observed in an atmosphere of peace, respect and devotion, thwarting every malicious design.
The Governor prayed that Allah Almighty grant the nation the strength to follow the teachings of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and the martyrs of Karbala, uphold truth and contribute to lasting peace and stability in Pakistan.
