Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Home and Tribal Affairs Tariq Saeed Marwat on Thursday visited the central control rooms established for Muharram security, reviewing monitoring, coordination, and emergency response arrangements across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The visit focused on ensuring robust security measures for the 9th and 10th of Muharram.
Inspection of Control Centres
During the visit, Marwat inspected control centres operating at the Home and Tribal Affairs Department, Police Lines, and the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Peshawar. Officials briefed him on security measures for Muharram processions and religious gatherings, as well as coordination among district administration, police, rescue services, and other departments. He was informed that the control rooms were operating round the clock, receiving real-time information from districts across the province.
Government's Foremost Priority
Marwat stated that maintaining law and order during Muharram remains the provincial government's foremost priority. He directed all departments to perform their duties with professionalism and close coordination. He said enhanced security measures had been implemented on the directives of Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi to ensure peaceful observance of the 9th and 10th of Muharram.
Strengthened Surveillance and Coordination
Marwat added that surveillance, monitoring, and inter-agency coordination had been further strengthened to maintain a secure environment throughout the province. He emphasised that timely decision-making, continuous monitoring, and coordinated efforts by relevant institutions had contributed significantly to maintaining peace and stability during Muharram.
Appreciation for Control Room Staff
Appreciating the performance of control room staff, Marwat said all departments concerned were working collectively to safeguard lives and property and facilitate the peaceful conduct of religious observances. He reaffirmed the provincial government's commitment to taking all necessary measures to ensure public safety and maintain law and order during Muharram.
