Jordan, Kuwait Discuss Security and Military Cooperation

Senior Jordanian and Kuwaiti officials held talks on Wednesday about security and military cooperation between their countries. Jordan’s interior minister, Mazen Faraya, and his Kuwaiti counterpart, Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, met in Amman to discuss the enhancement of security coordination and expansion of joint training programs.

Security Coordination Enhanced

Faraya praised the level of cooperation between Jordan and Kuwait on security matters, and stressed the importance of continuing consultations between the countries’ interior ministries and security agencies on issues of mutual interest, the Jordan News Agency reported. Describing the nations’ relationship as strong and longstanding, Sheikh Fahad reaffirmed Kuwait’s commitment to deeper security ties and increasing exchanges of expertise.

Military Cooperation Discussed

The meeting focused on expanding collaboration between the Jordanian and Kuwaiti armed forces and strengthening their strategic partnership. In separate talks, the chairperson of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Jordanian Armed Forces, Maj. Gen. Yousef Hunaiti, and the visiting chief of the general staff of the Kuwaiti army, Lt. Gen. Khaled Daraj Shuraiaan, discussed ways to enhance military and defense cooperation.

The meeting focused in particular on expanded collaborations between their forces, and the strengthening of their strategic partnership. Hunaiti highlighted the close ties between the two countries and the role they play in supporting regional security and stability, while Shuraiaan confirmed the commitment of the Kuwaiti Armed Forces to broader military cooperation with Jordan, as well as greater exchanges of expertise and experience.

The meetings come amid continuing efforts by Jordan and Kuwait to strengthen bilateral relations across the realms of security, defense and other sectors.
