In line with the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, a delegation of the Inter-Muslim Unity Committee visited Faisalabad to promote sectarian harmony and ensure the peaceful observance of Muharram-ul-Haram across the region. The delegation was led by Provincial Khateeb of the Punjab Auqaf Department, Maulana Mukhtar Ahmad Nadeem.
Security Review and Coordination
During the visit, the delegation met Regional Police Officer (RPO) Faisalabad Sohail Akhtar Sukhera and reviewed the security and administrative arrangements for maintaining law and order during Muharram-ul-Haram. The meeting was attended by City Police Officer Faisalabad Tanveer Hussain, District Police Officer (DPO) Jhang Sajid Hussain, DPO Toba Tek Singh Akhlaq Ullah Tarrar, DPO Chiniot Dr. Atif Naveed, and other senior police officials.
Conference of Religious Scholars
A conference of religious scholars representing various schools of thought was also held, during which participants reaffirmed their commitment to promoting unity, tolerance, and brotherhood during Muharram-ul-Haram. Addressing the gathering, Maulana Mukhtar Ahmad Nadeem emphasized that all Muslims should follow the teachings of the Holy Quran and Sunnah and collectively work to strengthen unity and harmony within society. He described Muharram-ul-Haram as a month of immense sanctity, blessings, sacrifice, and spiritual significance.
RPO's Call for Coordination
Speaking on the occasion, RPO Sohail Akhtar Sukhera said that Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) is a shared legacy of the entire Muslim Ummah and that his unparalleled sacrifice safeguarded the true values and principles of Islam for future generations. He stressed the importance of close coordination between religious scholars of all schools of thought and the civil administration during Muharram. He added that strict implementation of the prescribed code of conduct for processions and religious gatherings would play a vital role in maintaining a peaceful and secure environment.
The RPO further stated that all schools of thought must play a constructive role in promoting mutual understanding, cooperation, religious tolerance, and social cohesion to strengthen national unity and contribute to a stronger and more united Pakistan. The conference concluded with participants reiterating their resolve to promote peace, religious harmony, and inter-sect unity throughout Muharram-ul-Haram.
