A Syrian delegation led by Assistant Minister of Public Works and Housing Imad Al-Masri visited Hiroshima to examine the city’s reconstruction and recovery following the 1945 atomic bombing. Delegation Briefed on Hiroshima's Recovery Stages

At Hiroshima City Hall, the Syrian officials attended a presentation detailing the stages of the city’s reconstruction, the urban planning mechanisms that supported its recovery, and the legislation and projects that transformed Hiroshima into a global model for development and peace. The delegation also visited the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, where they reviewed key historical milestones related to the atomic bombing and laid a wreath in honor of the victims.

Meeting with Hiroshima Mayor

During a meeting with Hiroshima Mayor Kazumi Matsui, Al-Masri underscored the importance of expanding cooperation and expertise in reconstruction and urban development. He stressed the value of drawing on Japan’s experience in urban planning and post-disaster recovery management to support Syria’s reconstruction efforts.
