Pakistan Observes International Day of Solidarity with Palestinian People
Pakistan Stands with Palestine on International Solidarity Day

Pakistan joined nations across the globe in observing the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People on Saturday, demonstrating unwavering support for their struggle for dignity and self-determination.

Historical Significance of the Observance

The international community has marked this significant day every year since 1977, when the United Nations General Assembly designated November 29 as the official day of solidarity. This date holds profound historical importance as it marks the same day in 1947 when the UN Assembly adopted the resolution concerning the partition of Palestine.

Under UNGA Resolution 60/37 passed on December 1, 2005, the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People and the Division for Palestinian Rights received a mandate to continue organizing annual exhibits or cultural events. These activities are coordinated in cooperation with the Permanent Observer Mission of Palestine to the United Nations.

Pakistan's Strong Stance on Palestinian Rights

In powerful separate messages, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan's steadfast support for the Palestinian cause. Both leaders emphasized Pakistan's commitment to the Palestinian people's inalienable right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent State of Palestine with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

The Pakistani leadership's statements highlighted the nation's consistent foreign policy position regarding Palestine, reflecting the sentiments of the Pakistani people who have historically stood with their Palestinian brothers and sisters in their legitimate struggle.

Global Recognition and Support

The United Nations has encouraged all member states to extend their full support for this observance and ensure broad awareness about the significance of this day. The international solidarity event serves as an important reminder of the global community's commitment to achieving justice, dignity, and fundamental rights for the Palestinian people.

This year's observance comes at a crucial time when the Palestinian cause continues to demand international attention and action toward achieving a just and lasting solution to the longstanding conflict.
