To commemorate World Diabetes Day, the Cantonment Board Peshawar (CBP) took a significant step for community health by organizing a comprehensive awareness campaign and a free medical check-up camp. The initiative was designed to educate local residents about the prevention of diabetes and other associated health concerns, promoting early detection and fostering healthier lifestyle choices within the cantonment area.
Medical Experts Provide Essential Services
The camp was a hub of medical activity, with Dr. Fahad Javed and Lady Medical Officer Dr. Nazli Haleem leading the effort by personally examining patients and offering vital medical consultations. A key feature of this diabetes screening camp was the provision of free tests for blood sugar, blood pressure, and cholesterol levels. The event proved to be immensely beneficial, with more than 100 patients receiving free medical check-ups and approximately 70 individuals being given free medicines to manage their conditions.
Awareness Walk and High-Level Support
The occasion was further highlighted by an energetic awareness walk that saw enthusiastic participation from Cantonment Board officers, staff, local residents, and students. Participants marched with placards advocating for healthy living, diabetes prevention, and the importance of regular medical check-ups. The event garnered significant official support, with Station Commander Brig. Ghaffar Haider and CEO Cantonment Board Peshawar Chaudhry Babar Hussain visiting the camp, accompanied by Vice President Cantt Yadullah Khan Bangash. They praised the involvement of residents and volunteers for the success of the drive.
A Continued Commitment to Community Health
This event was not an isolated effort. As part of its ongoing community health outreach, the Cantonment Board Peshawar has now organized eight free medical camps, including this latest one. Deputy CEO CBP Jowaira Bano affirmed that such initiatives would continue, aiming to provide residents with better healthcare access and promote a culture of healthier living in Peshawar Cantonment. Residents expressed their appreciation for the camp, describing it as a commendable step towards improving public health and voiced hope for more such free medical services for underprivileged citizens.
