Alec Baldwin has opened up about an important lesson he wants to impart to his children. During a recent interview with E News at the premiere of the documentary Gaslit, the actor and political activist expressed his desire for his seven children with wife Hilaria Baldwin to grow up with hope.
"Because right now it's more hopeless than I've ever seen," the Mission: Impossible–Rogue Nation star explained. Emphasizing the importance of perseverance, Baldwin stated, "We've got to continue to fight to prove to our children that you got to keep fighting. You got to have hope, and you got to keep fighting to take the reins of power in our society, and that responsibility—that awesome responsibility—away from people who are going to abuse it."
On a lighter note, Baldwin revealed that he once had a different goal for his children. "For a while, I thought I just wanted them to push my wheelchair," he said. "I say, 'I want you guys to work out and get strong because you're going to be pushing the old man in my chair before long.'"
For those unfamiliar, Alec and Hilaria's children are Rafael (10), Eduardo (5), Ilaria (3), Carmen (12), Leonardo (9), Romeo (8), and Maria Lucia (5).
Age Difference Challenges
Back in 2025, with a 26-year age gap between Alec and Hilaria, the then-68-year-old actor spoke about the challenges of being an older father. "These kids are gonna turn around and they're gonna be ready to go to college, and I'm gonna be old," Baldwin shared. "I'm gonna be old 15 years from now. I'll be 80."
He admitted that he tries his best to spend as much time with his children as possible. "I try not to think about that. What I need is more time with my kids, you know?" he said.
