Saudi Arabia's National eLearning Center (NeLC) has launched the National Digital Learning Indicator for the 2025–2026 period, a significant advancement in measuring the quality of digital learning across government entities in the Kingdom. The indicator utilizes real-time data and direct technical integration to assess performance.
Purpose and Scope of the Indicator
The indicator aims to evaluate digital learning quality, strengthen data-driven governance, support decision-making, and drive continuous improvement within the national digital learning and training ecosystem. It specifically targets government entities in the higher education and training sector.
Performance is measured through four key indicators: the use of shared digital educational resources, inter-agency integration, data-driven digital learning quality, and flexible learning models based on micro-credentials. These metrics are designed to provide a comprehensive view of digital learning effectiveness.
Automated Measurement Process
According to the center, performance is measured automatically through direct integration with entities' systems, ensuring accurate and up-to-date data that reflects actual performance without requiring registration or file uploads. This streamlined approach eliminates administrative burdens and enhances data reliability.
The center stated that the new edition represents a major step forward in the Kingdom's digital learning journey, supporting a more efficient, transparent, and sustainable ecosystem. It promotes continuous improvement and enhances educational and training outcomes across government entities.
