Religious ceremonies and spiritual activities are continuing at Gurdwara Panja Sahib as Sikh pilgrims visiting Pakistan participate in a 10-day pilgrimage to some of the faith's most revered sites. Under arrangements made by the Evacuee Trust Property Board and the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, pilgrims offered prayers, paid their respects at the historic shrine, and took part in various religious rituals.
Facilities and Security Arrangements
Authorities have put in place extensive facilities for the visitors, including accommodation, transportation, langar (community meals), medical assistance, and other support services. Officials said special efforts are being made to ensure the comfort, safety, and well-being of pilgrims throughout their stay. Given the intense summer temperatures, additional measures such as cold drinking water stations, medical camps, ambulance services, and emergency response facilities have been established. Cleanliness and sanitation arrangements have also been enhanced, while local administration and security agencies are providing comprehensive security coverage.
Pilgrims Express Satisfaction
Pilgrims expressed satisfaction with the arrangements, praising the hospitality extended by the Government of Pakistan and the Evacuee Trust Property Board. They commended the quality of accommodation, transportation services, healthcare facilities, and the management of religious events. The visitors also appreciated Pakistan's efforts to preserve Sikh heritage sites, facilitate religious tourism, and promote interfaith harmony. Many noted improvements in the maintenance, security, and accessibility of Sikh religious landmarks across the country.
Pilgrimage Schedule and Main Event
According to the pilgrimage schedule, the devotees will depart from Gurdwara Panja Sahib on June 14 and travel to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur, where they will spend a day performing religious rites. The pilgrims will subsequently visit Gurdwara Rori Sahib before proceeding to Lahore. The main event of the pilgrimage, marking the martyrdom anniversary of Guru Arjan Dev, will be held on June 16 at Gurdwara Dera Sahib.
The pilgrimage is scheduled to conclude on June 19, when the visiting Sikh devotees will return to India after completing their religious journey.
