Pakistan Government Slashes Petrol Price by Rs4, Diesel Unchanged
Petrol Price Reduced by Rs4, Diesel Unchanged

The government on Friday once again reduced the price of petrol, cutting it by Rs4 per litre while leaving the rate of high-speed diesel unchanged for the next fortnight. According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Energy's Petroleum Division, the price of motor spirit (petrol) has been reduced by Rs4 per litre, while the price of high-speed diesel has been retained at Rs380.78 per litre. Following the reduction, petrol will now be available at Rs377.78 per litre.

This is the latest in a series of adjustments to fuel prices as the government attempts to provide relief to consumers amid global oil price fluctuations. The decision to keep diesel prices stable is aimed at controlling inflation, as diesel is heavily used in transportation and agriculture. The new prices will remain in effect for the next two weeks.

Impact on Consumers

The reduction in petrol prices is expected to ease the burden on car owners and small businesses that rely on petrol for daily operations. However, the unchanged diesel rate may continue to affect the cost of goods and public transport fares.

Global Market Trends

The price cut reflects a slight decline in international crude oil prices and a stable exchange rate. Analysts suggest that further reductions may be possible if global prices continue to soften.

More details are expected to follow as the government monitors the situation.
