The Palestinian government has secured funding exceeding $32 million for 106 development projects in the Jenin governorate, as announced on Friday. The initiative includes rehabilitating partially damaged homes and advancing strategic investments in water, electricity, and infrastructure.
The announcement was made during a field visit by a ministerial delegation to the governorate, led under the directives of Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa.
Infrastructure and Road Rehabilitation
The government stated that the projects encompass the completion of 106 infrastructure initiatives supported by international donors. Preparations are underway to rehabilitate homes that sustained minor to moderate damage in Jenin city and surrounding areas, funded by German aid administered by the United Nations.
Key road projects include the upcoming tender for the rehabilitation of the Zabda–Dhahr Al-Abed road, completion of the design for the 11-kilometer Beit Qad–Faqqu’a road, and continued planning for the 4.5-kilometer Nazareth Road.
Water Sector Investments
Strategic water projects aim to improve supply and wastewater services. A $51 million World Bank-funded bulk water system and distribution network will serve villages northeast of Jenin, benefiting about 120,000 residents. The rehabilitation of the Janzour well, costing $4 million, is near completion. A $14.5 million German-funded water network improvement program and wastewater infrastructure projects in Misilyah are also underway.
Additionally, a $40 million French-funded wastewater treatment plant has been signed, serving eight villages west of Jenin and benefiting approximately 90,000 residents.
Energy and Solar Power
The Palestinian Energy and Natural Resources Authority is installing solar power generation and storage systems at public health facilities, including Khalil Suleiman Government Hospital and Al-Basateen Clinic. Upgrades to electricity infrastructure include medium-voltage transmission lines and network rehabilitation projects worth more than 6.14 million shekels ($2 million).
Agricultural and Social Support
Agricultural support programs aim to strengthen farmers’ resilience by rehabilitating agricultural roads, water reservoirs, and irrigation systems, and providing farming inputs. Employment and vocational training programs have benefited 522 people across 17 specialties.
The Ministry of Social Development continues assistance for vulnerable groups, including distributing mobility aids for people with disabilities and completing a protection center for women and girls.
Ministerial Delegation and Future Tours
The ministerial delegation included the ministers of interior, justice, local government, economy, transport, and tourism, along with senior officials. They met representatives of public institutions, the private sector, local authorities, universities, and community organizations to review development needs and inspect infrastructure projects.
The government said the visit is part of a broader program of field tours across Palestinian governorates to monitor development projects, improve public services, and respond directly to citizens’ needs.
