Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) resumed direct flights between Lahore and Manchester after a six-year hiatus, with flight PK-709 departing from Lahore on Thursday carrying 325 passengers, according to a PIA statement.
Inaugural Ceremony and Operations
An inaugural ceremony was held at Lahore airport, where PIA Chief Operating Officer Khurram Mushtaq saw off the passengers. The first flight destined for Lahore had departed from Manchester on Wednesday night, the statement added.
Strengthening Bilateral Ties
The resumption of flights on the Lahore-Manchester route is expected to strengthen “people-to-people ties” between Pakistan and the United Kingdom, the PIA statement said. PIA now operates five weekly flights between Pakistan and Manchester, including four from Islamabad and one from Lahore.
