Multan Police have claimed an overall decline of more than 50 percent in crime across the district during the first six months of 2026, attributing the improvement to intelligence-led policing, enhanced patrolling, search operations and targeted crackdowns on criminal gangs.
Sharp Drop in Major Crime Categories
According to a police performance report issued on Friday, robbery incidents fell by 80 percent, car snatching was eliminated with a 100 percent decline, motorcycle snatching dropped by 63 percent, while motorcycle theft decreased by 56 percent compared to the corresponding period of last year.
The report said total registered cases declined from 35,024 in the first half of 2025 to 17,541 during the same period this year, representing a reduction of over 50 percent.
Search Operations and Weapons Seizures
Police also claimed to have conducted more than 100 search operations, registered 677 cases against illegal weapons, arrested 682 suspects and recovered a large quantity of arms and ammunition.
These operations were part of a targeted strategy to dismantle criminal networks and remove illegal weapons from the streets, officials said.
Anti-Narcotics Drive
In anti-narcotics operations, 559 suspects were arrested in 535 cases, with significant quantities of ice, heroin, hashish and liquor seized.
The crackdown on drug trafficking was aimed at curbing the supply of narcotics and reducing drug-related crime in the district.
Multan Police credited the crime reduction to a combination of proactive patrolling, intelligence gathering, and community cooperation. The force has promised to maintain the momentum in the coming months to further improve public safety.
