Lahore Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Syed Abdul Rahim has declared CBD Boulevard a no-go area for heavy motorcycles and ordered strict action against anyone found violating the ban. The decision comes after persistent complaints about groups of heavy bike riders gathering on the boulevard to engage in racing, overspeeding, and creating excessive noise.
Details of the Crackdown
According to CTO Syed Abdul Rahim, an indiscriminate operation will be carried out against those involved in wheelies, dangerous stunts, and reckless speeding, particularly on weekend nights. Divisional and circle officers have been directed to personally supervise the operations, while special instructions have also been issued to traffic police personnel deployed on the night shift across the city.
Enhanced Surveillance Measures
The CTO made it clear that mob gatherings, road blockades, and wheelie stunts will not be tolerated under any circumstances. He added that enhanced surveillance and strict enforcement are already in place on CBD Main Boulevard, Defence Main Boulevard, and Canal Road. Officers have been directed to monitor violations through Safe City cameras, and those identified performing wheelies will have cases registered against them.
Appeal to Parents and Public Safety
The CTO also urged parents to keep a close watch on the activities of young riders, warning that reckless speeding can prove fatal. He added that special inspections of heavy motorcycles will also be conducted to ensure safer roads for all commuters.
