Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Adviser to the Chief Minister for Agriculture, Mian Muhammad Umar, announced the launch of an online portal enabling farmers to submit complaints, suggestions and queries directly to his office. The announcement was made on Wednesday while he was speaking as chief guest at the Sona Kisan Convention held at a local hotel in Peshawar.
Government Commitment to Modernising Agriculture
Umar reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to modernising agriculture and improving farmers’ livelihoods. He said agriculture remained the backbone of the national economy and that supporting farmers was central to the government’s development agenda. The event was attended by senior officials of the Agriculture Department, agricultural experts, representatives of farmers’ organisations, stakeholders from the seed, fertiliser and pesticide industries, and growers from across the province.
Promotion of Modern Farming Techniques
The adviser said the government was promoting modern farming techniques, certified seed, balanced fertiliser use, efficient irrigation systems, agricultural research and extension services to boost productivity, reduce production costs and increase farmers’ incomes. He noted that Farm Services Centres established across the province were providing farmers with technical guidance and a range of agricultural services under one roof, making it easier for them to access official support.
Call for Adoption of Modern Practices
Umar urged farmers to adopt modern cultivation practices and maintain close contact with agricultural experts to improve crop yields and profitability. He added that the government was incorporating farmers’ feedback into policymaking to ensure more effective service delivery.
Launch of e-Minister Web Portal
Announcing the launch of the e-Minister Web Portal, he said farmers would be able to communicate directly with his office and assured them that genuine complaints and suggestions would be addressed promptly and transparently. He also praised the organisers of the convention, saying such forums helped strengthen coordination between the government, agricultural institutions and the farming community while promoting the exchange of modern farming knowledge.
