Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Islamabad, Kainat Azhar Khan, conducted a field visit to the main Muharram procession route in the G-6 sector on Thursday morning to assess traffic management and security arrangements. During the visit, she reviewed deployment plans, monitored traffic flow, and issued directives to officers stationed along the route.
Emphasis on Safety and Smooth Traffic
Kainat Azhar Khan stressed the importance of maintaining uninterrupted traffic movement while ensuring the safety of both participants and the general public. She urged procession participants and residents to adhere to discipline, follow traffic advisories, and fully cooperate with police personnel deployed on the routes.
The CTO also appealed to citizens to park vehicles and motorcycles only in designated areas to prevent congestion and facilitate emergency access if required.
Deployment of Over 350 Officers
According to the Islamabad Traffic Police, more than 350 officers have been deployed to manage traffic and assist commuters during the main Muharram procession. Special arrangements have been implemented to minimize inconvenience and ensure orderly movement in the affected areas.
Kainat Azhar Khan emphasized that effective coordination between citizens and law enforcement agencies is essential for the peaceful conduct of religious events. She requested road users to exercise patience and comply with directions issued by traffic officials throughout the day.
Public Advisory and Cooperation
The CTO urged all residents to follow traffic advisories and cooperate with police personnel. She highlighted that designated parking areas must be used to avoid unnecessary congestion and to keep emergency routes clear. The traffic police have put in place comprehensive plans to facilitate commuters and ensure the smooth flow of traffic during the procession.
