Bayern Munich have completed the signing of Germany international defender Nathaniel Brown from Eintracht Frankfurt, the club announced on Friday. The 23-year-old has agreed a contract running until 2031, with the Bundesliga champions paying a reported fee of €55 million ($63 million) to secure his services.
Brown joins to compete at left-back
Brown arrives at Bayern to provide competition for Alphonso Davies, who has struggled with injuries in recent seasons. The left-back position has been a priority for Bayern, and Brown's versatility and pace make him a valuable addition. Speaking about the move, Brown expressed his excitement: "I’ve always dreamed of playing for the biggest titles at the highest level; I set myself the highest goals and want to get the maximum out of myself every day." He credited conversations with head coach Vincent Kompany as a key factor in his decision, calling Bayern "one of the best clubs in the world."
Bayern's stellar season and further reinforcements
Bayern are looking to build on a highly successful 2025-26 campaign, in which they won the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal double while reaching the Champions League semifinals. The club has been active in the transfer market, having earlier this week announced the signing of Moroccan midfielder Ismael Saibari, who impressed at the World Cup. Sporting director Max Eberl praised Brown's "rapid development," adding that the player "still has so much potential and is one for the future."
Brown's rise to prominence
Brown, who is eligible to represent the United States through his father, made his Germany debut in October 2025 and has since established himself as a regular starter. Known for his lightning pace, he scored a goal and provided an assist in Germany's 7-1 victory over Curacao in their tournament opener. Brown joined Frankfurt from Nuremberg in 2024 for a fee of €3 million. Last season, he played in all but one of Frankfurt's 34 Bundesliga matches, scoring four goals and providing four assists.
