Chinese Company Unveils Robotic Self-Driving Toilet That Comes to You
Robotic Self-Driving Toilet Debuts in Shanghai

A Chinese company called Yueban has introduced a smart toilet that can autonomously navigate to users, aiming to improve accessibility for individuals with mobility challenges. The device, named Xiaoban, was showcased at an expo in Shanghai focusing on elderly care, assistive devices, and rehabilitation medicine.

Autonomous Navigation and Accessibility

Xiaoban uses technology similar to advanced robot vacuums, including lidar and ultrasonic sensors, to plan safe routes through homes or care facilities while avoiding obstacles and stairs. It can be summoned via remote control or voice commands. While users may still need assistance getting onto the toilet, the device eliminates the need to travel to a bathroom.

Cleaning and Waste Management

The toilet features a built-in bidet and warm air drying mechanism, along with a self-cleaning bowl that seals waste inside an enclosed receptacle. Ultraviolet lights help kill bacteria and minimize odors. After use, the toilet returns to its charging dock. If the dock is connected to plumbing, it recharges, refills reservoirs, and empties pulverized waste. If not, an extending arm pumps waste into a traditional toilet.

Priced at ¥28,999 yuan (approximately $4,300), global availability has not been confirmed. The Xiaoban aims to reduce caregiver workload by handling bathroom assistance and cleanup.
