A significant sports initiative aimed at safeguarding the youth has been launched in Karachi. The Sindh Tape Ball Association, in partnership with the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), has announced a special T-10 tape ball cricket tournament designed to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse.
Tournament Details and High-Profile Collaboration
The announcement was made public during a press conference held by Javed Jhangra, Chairman of both the Sindh Tape Ball Association and CLYCF. He was joined by key figures including tournament coordinator Imran Katya, patron Zohaib Jhangra, and Ghulam Muhammad Khan, the Director Sports for the Commissioner Karachi office.
Jhangra revealed that the tournament will be hosted at the KMC Stadium, a facility made available with the support of Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab, to whom he expressed sincere gratitude. The core mission of the event is to use the widespread appeal of cricket as a platform to educate and protect young people from the scourge of narcotics.
Grand Finale and Distinguished Guests
The tournament will feature eight competing teams battling it out in the fast-paced T-10 format. The grand finale is scheduled for December 28, promising to be a notable event on Karachi's sporting calendar.
The final match will not only see the distribution of cash prizes and awards to the standout players but will also be graced by the presence of senior officials. Confirmed attendees include ANF Commander Brigadier Umar Farooq, Commissioner Karachi Syed Hasan Naqvi, and DIGP Traffic Syed Pir M Shah.
A Call to Action Against Drug Traffickers
In his statements, Javed Jhangra placed strong emphasis on the societal imperative to combat drug abuse. He highlighted the critical role of such community-driven sports events in providing positive engagement for the youth.
Jhangra issued a clear call to action, urging a collective effort to tackle drug traffickers who prey on the younger generation. He also appealed to the media fraternity to lend their support to this vital cause, amplifying the message of a drug-free lifestyle through sportsmanship and healthy competition.
This collaboration between a sports association and a national force like the ANF marks a proactive step towards channeling youthful energy into positive avenues and building a stronger, healthier community.
