Punjab Sports Department Hosts Record-Breaking 12-km Cycle Ride in Lahore
The Punjab Sports Department achieved a significant milestone on Sunday by organizing the largest-ever cycle ride in the province's history. This major sporting event, held in Lahore, successfully attracted more than 600 enthusiastic male and female cyclists from various parts of the city. The 12-kilometer ride not only marked the department's first major sporting activity of 2026 but also underscored the government's strong commitment to fostering healthy lifestyles and a vibrant sports culture across Punjab.
High-Profile Participation and Event Route
The event saw active involvement from several key officials, demonstrating top-level support for sports initiatives. Punjab Minister for Sports Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar, SBP Vice Chairman Malik Sulaiman, and DG Sports Punjab Khizar Afzaal Ch were prominently present, alongside Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab M Ali and other dignitaries. The cycle ride kicked off from Liberty Chowk, traversed through the bustling CBD Kalma Chowk, and concluded back at the starting point, creating a festive atmosphere along the route.
Competitive Races and Winners
In addition to the main 12-km ride, separate competitive cycle races were conducted at the Nishtar Park Sports Complex, catering to men, women, and children. These races added an exciting competitive edge to the event. In the women's category, Fatima Tahir emerged victorious, securing first place, with Noorul Huda and Zainab Chohan following closely in second and third positions respectively. The men's race was dominated by Ali Hassan, who clinched the top spot, while M Mughal and Ali Nasir finished as runners-up. For the children's category, Azan Adeel claimed first place, with M Talha and Ayan Adeel rounding out the top three.
