In a significant boost to sports infrastructure, Faisalabad has welcomed a new, world-class Padel Tennis Court at the FDA City Sports Complex. The inauguration aligns with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif's ambitious "Tawana Punjab" initiative aimed at revitalizing the province.
Grand Inauguration Ceremony
Faisalabad Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar formally opened the facility by cutting the ribbon and striking the first ball on the new court. The ceremony saw attendance from key officials including Director General FDA Muhammad Asif Chaudhry, ADG Qaiser Abbas Rand, Chief Engineer Mehr Muhammad Ayub, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Fazal Abbas, and President of the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Farooq Yousaf.
Commissioner Anwar commended the DG FDA and his team for completing the high-standard project within a remarkably short timeframe. He congratulated the administration for introducing this fast-growing and popular sport to the city's recreational landscape.
Vision for a Modern Sports Hub
The Commissioner outlined a broader vision for the complex, stating it would be upgraded in line with modern requirements. The plan includes introducing more state-of-the-art indoor games and attractive recreational facilities, positioning it to compete with the country's most renowned clubs.
In a promising announcement for the community, the commissioner also hinted at the early launch of dedicated recreational and sports programs for women, children, and families. Following the ceremony, he inspected the sports complex's cafeteria.
Future Expansion Plans Revealed
During a briefing, DG FDA Muhammad Asif Chaudhry revealed that master planning for the expansion of the sports complex is already complete. The ambitious future projects for the entertainment area include:
- A cinema and an events hall
- An e-gaming zone and a bowling alley
- A fine-dining restaurant and a guest house
He further added that a swimming pool would also be made functional at the complex soon, significantly enhancing its offerings.
This development marks a concrete step towards fulfilling the "Tawana Punjab" vision, promising Faisalabad residents enhanced opportunities for sports, entertainment, and family recreation.
