I think the gravity that was being pulled toward me kind of opened up everybody else, and we had walk-in layups and was getting open shots."
Matching Louisville Legend Wes Unseld
In addition to breaking the ACC freshman record, Brown's 45-point performance tied the Louisville single-game scoring mark set by Hall of Famer Wes Unseld against Georgetown College on December 1, 1967. Brown admitted he wasn't initially aware of the historical significance of his scoring outburst.
"I did not know," Brown said when asked about matching Unseld's record. "To be honest, I wasn't thinking about the record until they [teammates] just came to me, and I'm like, 'I'm going to go get it.' That means a lot, just because he's a legend. I couldn't do this without my teammates. They encourage me every single day to be myself and to stay aggressive and just be free."

Brown's impact extended far beyond his scoring outburst. The freshman guard contributed nine rebounds, three steals, and two assists in a comprehensive performance that showcased his all-around game. His defensive intensity and playmaking ability complemented his offensive explosion perfectly.
