MULTAN: A fire broke out in the power van of the Karachi-to-Rawalpindi 7-Up Tezgam Express between Riazabad and Khanewal on Monday, however swift action by railway staff and emergency responders averted a major accident.

Immediate Response and Passenger Safety

According to a spokesperson for Pakistan Railways Multan Division, the train guard immediately alerted control authorities upon detecting the fire. Railway staff swiftly detached the affected power van from the rest of the train to ensure passenger safety. Rescue 1122 teams reached the site and successfully extinguished the fire. No casualties or injuries were reported, and all passengers remained safe.

Restoration of Train Operations

A relief locomotive was dispatched to continue the journey, while the affected power van and train components were shifted to Riazabad and Khanewal as per procedure. Railway authorities said train operations resumed without significant disruption and normal traffic flow was maintained.
