A severe cold wave continues to paralyze daily life across Balochistan, with temperatures plummeting to dangerous levels in multiple districts. The Pakistan Meteorological Department reports extreme conditions persisting throughout the province.

Record Low Temperatures Recorded

Quetta recorded a bone-chilling minimum temperature of -4°C, while Qalat emerged as the coldest spot in the region at -6°C. The mercury drop has been particularly sharp in northern Balochistan, where residents face the harshest conditions during early morning and nighttime hours.

According to meteorological experts, most districts in Balochistan will experience cold and dry weather throughout the day. The freezing conditions are expected to continue over the next 24 hours, with northern areas bearing the brunt of the cold wave.

Nationwide Weather Impact

The cold spell extends beyond Balochistan, affecting most parts of Pakistan. Gilgit recorded -5°C, while Islamabad and Peshawar stood at 5°C and 7°C respectively. Lahore experienced 10°C, while Karachi residents faced 14°C morning temperature.

Mountainous regions across the country will continue to experience very cold weather during morning and night hours. The PMD has also warned about potential smog and fog patches developing in the plain areas of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during morning and nighttime.

Health Concerns and Precautions

The extreme cold conditions pose significant health risks, especially for vulnerable populations including children and the elderly. Health authorities advise residents to take necessary precautions against cold-related illnesses.
