Punjab Police Implements Heightened Security for Church Services
In a proactive move to ensure safety during Christian worship and prayer programs, Punjab Police has been placed on high alert across the province, including Lahore. This security initiative was carried out under the direct orders of Punjab Inspector General Police (IGP) Abdul Kareem, who emphasized the need for stringent measures to protect religious gatherings.
Enhanced Security Measures and Directives
Earlier, in response to the evolving situation along the western border, IGP Abdul Kareem issued specific instructions to Regional Police Officers (RPOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs). He mandated that they further strengthen security arrangements at churches and other critical locations. Supervisory officers were directed to personally visit these sites to inspect and verify the effectiveness of the security protocols in place.
To bolster these efforts, additional police personnel and snipers were strategically deployed at sensitive churches. Teams from the Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit (PRU), and Elite Force were mobilized to conduct effective patrolling around church premises, ensuring a visible and responsive security presence.
Ongoing Operations and Community Engagement
IGP Abdul Kareem emphasized that all deployed police officers and personnel must remain highly vigilant and maintain a strict watch on any potential miscreant elements. In line with this, search and sweep operations have been continued around churches, Christian localities, and other sensitive areas to preempt any security threats.
Furthermore, Abdul Kareem called upon religious scholars, the Christian community, and members of peace committees to play an active role in promoting interfaith harmony. He highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts in fostering a peaceful and secure environment for all religious activities.
