LCCI Takes Disciplinary Action Against Ex-President for Unprecedented Incident
LCCI Condemns Ex-President's Behavior, Starts Disciplinary Action

The Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) has taken a firm stance against what it describes as an unprecedented and regrettable incident involving its former president. The chamber's Executive Committee convened an urgent meeting to address the serious matter, which has sent shockwaves through the local business community.

Executive Committee Condemns Aggressive Behavior

During an emergent meeting held on Wednesday, the LCCI Executive Committee, chaired by President Faheem-ur-Rehman Saigol, unanimously and strongly condemned the actions of former president Abuzar Shad. Committee members labeled his conduct as inappropriate, unethical, and completely unacceptable for the institution.

According to an official report presented in the meeting, the incident occurred a day earlier when Abuzar Shad entered the President's office without any valid justification. The report details that he then behaved in an aggressive manner, used abusive language, and issued serious threats—including death threats—against the chamber's leadership.

The committee emphasized that this behavior violated not only the respect owed to the President's office but also damaged the sanctity of the entire institution. Members stated that such actions represent a direct challenge to the chamber's discipline and institutional dignity, while also constituting an insult to the broader business community of Lahore.

Disciplinary Proceedings Initiated

Given the seriousness of the incident and the potential damage to the chamber's reputation, the Executive Committee approved immediate disciplinary action. The committee will proceed under Article 14(i) of the Chamber’s Memorandum & Articles of Association.

The disciplinary process will begin with issuing a show-cause notice to Abuzar Shad. Following this initial step, further measures may include:

  • Possible cancellation of his membership
  • Removal from any official positions held within the chamber
  • Other appropriate penalties as determined by the committee

The committee clarified that no individual, regardless of personal grievances or emotional state, would be permitted to disrespect the institution, its foundational principles, or the office of the President.

Leadership Vows to Protect Institutional Integrity

LCCI President Faheem-ur-Rehman Saigol addressed the meeting, stating unequivocally that such behavior cannot be tolerated under any circumstances. He affirmed that the chamber's environment, discipline, and institutional respect would be protected at all costs.

President Saigol also revealed that major trade and industrial bodies across Lahore have expressed strong condemnation of Abuzar Shad's actions. These organizations have reportedly offered their complete support for the Executive Committee's decision to pursue disciplinary action.

The Executive Committee reaffirmed its commitment to never compromise the institution's dignity, established rules, and ethical standards. In a forward-looking move, the committee also decided to develop a comprehensive strategy aimed at preventing similar incidents in the future.

This strategy will focus on ensuring a more secure, respectful, and professional environment within the chamber for all members and officials. The Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry, as one of Pakistan's most prominent business bodies, has demonstrated through this decisive action its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professional conduct among its leadership and membership.
