In a move to directly assess ground realities, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Minister for Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control, Syed Fakhar Jehan, conducted an unannounced inspection of the Excise Department office on Shami Road in Peshawar this Friday.
Minister Engages Public, Issues On-Spot Directives
During his surprise visit, the minister did not confine himself to meetings with officials. Instead, he proactively engaged with citizens who were present at the office seeking various services. He listened attentively to their concerns and complaints regarding departmental procedures.
Based on these interactions, Syed Fakhar Jehan issued immediate administrative instructions to the officers present, mandating them to address public grievances without any unnecessary delay. He emphasized that providing timely assistance is not a privilege but a right of every citizen.
Zero Tolerance for Delays and Misbehavior
The minister laid down a clear code of conduct for the department's staff. He stressed that every visitor to a government office must be treated with respect and dignity. He directed all officers and staff to maintain courteous behavior and provide complete guidance to applicants.
Reminding employees of their core duty as public servants, he called for upholding the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and dedication. The minister issued a stern warning, stating that any instance of misbehavior, undue delay, or causing inconvenience to the public would not be tolerated.
Restoring Public Trust Through Transparency
Syed Fakhar Jehan stated that the prompt resolution of public complaints is a top priority for the provincial government. The administrative instructions he issued are aimed at improving the overall efficiency of the department and, ultimately, strengthening public confidence in government institutions.
He identified transparency, professionalism, and timely service delivery as the essential pillars for restoring trust. The minister's hands-on approach underscores the government's commitment to bridging the gap between citizens and the administration, ensuring that public offices truly serve the people.
