Pakistan Security Forces Neutralize 13 Terrorists in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Raids
Pakistan's security forces have successfully eliminated thirteen terrorists in two separate intelligence-based operations conducted in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province on March 30, according to an official military statement. The operations targeted militants associated with what authorities describe as "Indian proxy Fitna Al Khwarij," a state-designated term for the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Details of the Counter-Terrorism Operations
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) provided specific details regarding the engagements. In the first operation, which took place in the general area of Bara within Khyber District, troops effectively engaged the terrorists' location, leading to an intense fire exchange. As a result, ten militants were neutralized in the confrontation.
A separate operation was carried out in Bannu District, where security forces encountered and killed three additional terrorists during another exchange of gunfire. The military has indicated that sanitization operations are ongoing in these areas to eliminate any remaining threats and ensure complete security.
Operation Azm-e-Istehkam: A National Counter-Terrorism Vision
These operations are part of the broader counter-terrorism campaign under Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, a vision approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan. The committee, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, endorsed this initiative in June 2024 with the objective of decisively and comprehensively eradicating terrorism and extremism across Pakistan.
The military's statement emphasized that the campaign "will continue at full pace to wipe out the menace of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country." Operation Azm-e-Istehkam aims to coordinate efforts across multiple fronts, including intensifying regional cooperation within political and diplomatic spheres to curb terrorist activities effectively.
Political Leadership Commends Security Forces
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have both commended the security forces for their successful operations in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. In separate statements, they reaffirmed the nation's unwavering resolve to eradicate foreign-backed terrorism and ensure national security.
President Zardari stated that operations against terrorists would continue to protect the people and uphold national security. Prime Minister Sharif praised the security forces, describing them as "a solid wall against terrorism in defence of the country." Their statements underscore the government's commitment to supporting military efforts in the fight against extremism.
The recent operations highlight Pakistan's ongoing efforts to combat terrorism through strategic military actions and national initiatives like Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, reflecting a concerted approach to address security challenges and promote stability in the region.
