Sindh Police Motor Transport Wing Upgraded and Digitalized in Karachi Ceremony
Inspector General of Police Sindh, Javed Alam Odho, attended a significant ceremony held to mark the upgradation and digitalization of various sections of the Sindh Police Motor Transport (MT) Wing. The event took place at the central office of the Motor Training Unit, located at Police Headquarters Garden in Karachi, where a smartly turned-out police contingent presented a salute to the IG Sindh, underscoring the importance of the occasion.
Key Attendees and Welcome Address
The ceremony was graced by the presence of numerous senior police officials, including DIGP Headquarters, DIGP T&T, SP Highway Patrol, DIGP Training, DIGP South, DIGP Traffic Karachi, SSP City, AIGP MT, AIGP Telecom, SP Headquarters Garden, and representatives from various vehicle manufacturing companies. DIGP T&T Zulfiqar Ali Mehr and AIGP MT Syed Salman Hussain welcomed the participants and provided a comprehensive briefing on the performance of the MT Wing, the strength of the police vehicle fleet, and the challenges faced by the department.
IGP Sindh's Inspection and Briefing
During the event, IGP Sindh Javed Alam Odho visited various sections of the Motor Training Unit, where DIGP T&T briefed him on different vehicles that had been restored and made operational after repair and rehabilitation. This hands-on inspection highlighted the practical improvements and efforts to enhance the operational capabilities of the police force.
Emphasis on Modern Policing and Technology
Addressing the ceremony, DIGP T&T emphasized that the upgradation and digitalization of multiple sections of the unit are crucial, as the MT Wing plays a central role in the overall performance of Sindh Police. He noted that the unit not only repairs vehicles used in operations in the riverine (Katcha) areas but also provides technical assistance to other districts, showcasing its broader impact.
IGP Sindh Javed Alam Odho expressed gratitude to the representatives of vehicle manufacturing companies for their cooperation. He highlighted the rapid transformation of conventional policing into modern and smart policing through the use of advanced technology. "We are moving from a war-like situation towards routine policing, where smart and modern policing has become indispensable," he stated, adding that smart, well-equipped vehicles are essential to provide better services to the public in less time.
Role of Technology in Major Operations
The IGP Sindh further elaborated that major operations in the Katcha area were carried out successfully with the help of modern technology. He emphasized that along with the supreme sacrifices of martyrs, advanced technology also played a vital role in these achievements, underscoring the synergy between human effort and technological innovation.
Call for Professional Services and Training
Stressing the need for continued improvement, IGP Odho urged that policing should be promoted through smart and modern vehicles instead of heavy vehicles. He called upon vehicle manufacturing companies to not only provide training to police technical staff but also offer professional services for annual overhauling and maintenance to keep police vehicles operational, ensuring long-term efficiency and reliability.
This ceremony marks a pivotal step in enhancing the operational readiness and technological integration of the Sindh Police, aligning with broader efforts to modernize law enforcement in Pakistan.
