Islamabad Expands E-Tag Installation Points

Islamabad Ramps Up E-Tag Installation Network

The Islamabad Capital Territory administration has dramatically expanded its network of e-tag installation points across the capital. This move comes as part of the ongoing implementation of the mandatory electronic tagging system for vehicles entering or moving within Islamabad.

Comprehensive Integration with Motorway System

Vehicles already equipped with Motorway M-Tags will not require separate e-tags as both systems are being fully integrated. The electronic tagging initiative aims to significantly enhance security measures while streamlining traffic management throughout the federal capital.

Authorities confirm that while the pilot project is currently operational, they have not yet announced a strict enforcement date with associated penalties. However, citizens are being strongly encouraged to obtain their tags promptly to avoid future inconveniences.

Expanded Installation Points and Requirements

To accommodate the growing demand, the administration has established multiple installation points operating from 9am to 9pm at various locations including:

Kachnar Park, I-8

Islamabad Club

Lake View Park

F-9 Park

Tarlai

Gulberg Greens

26 Number Chungi

Excise and Taxation Office, H-9 (3pm to 9pm)

Excise Office, H-8

Motorway Toll Plazas during standard operating hours

The program currently focuses on four-wheel vehicles during its initial phase, with motorcycles scheduled for inclusion in later stages of implementation.

Documentation and Cost Details

Motorists seeking to obtain their e-tags must present their original Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) along with vehicle registration documents. The tag costs approximately Rs. 250, plus an initial balance requirement that users must maintain.

Vehicle owners can conveniently manage their M-Tag balances and check status through the M-Tag One Network mobile application, providing a seamless user experience for maintaining their electronic tagging accounts.

The expanded installation network represents a significant step forward in the capital's digital transformation journey, aiming to create a more secure and efficient transportation environment for all residents and visitors.
