Vehari DC Warns of Fines in Cleanliness Campaign

In a significant push to enhance civic hygiene, the district administration of Vehari has launched a robust public awareness campaign against littering. The initiative, spearheaded by Deputy Commissioner Khalid Javed Goraya, aims to foster a culture of environmental responsibility among citizens and local businesses.

Deputy Commissioner Leads by Example

Deputy Commissioner Khalid Javed Goraya personally led an awareness walk through the city, engaging directly with the community. He distributed informational pamphlets to shopkeepers and street vendors, delivering a clear message: refrain from littering and maintain clean surroundings. The administration issued a stern warning that fines will be imposed on those who violate the cleanliness regulations.

Objectives of the Cleanliness Drive

Speaking on the occasion, DC Goraya outlined the core objectives of the campaign. He stated that the drive is designed to promote environmental responsibility, strengthen the sanitation system, and encourage eco-friendly behavior among all residents. Emphasizing that cleanliness is a shared duty, he advised shopkeepers to establish fixed timings for cleaning their premises. Following this, teams from the Suthra Punjab program will collect the accumulated waste. Citizens were strongly guided to dispose of their garbage only in designated dustbins to ensure a cleaner urban environment.

Community Participation and Recognition

The campaign was actively executed by the Pace Evergreen Initiative. Officials highlighted the performance of Tehsil Head Rao Khalil Ahmed, describing his work in field coordination and public engagement as highly commendable and noteworthy. The event saw participation from a cross-section of society, including Assistant Commissioner Vehari Anum Akram, Manager Operations for Solid Waste Management Kiran Khan, President Anjuman-e-Tajran Irshad Hussain Bhatti, representatives from civil society, and a large number of concerned citizens.

This concerted effort underscores the district administration's commitment to transforming Vehari into a model of cleanliness and public health, making environmental stewardship a community-wide mission.
