Police Encounter Ends in Death of Two Suspected Robbers
In a significant incident in Rahim Yar Khan, two alleged robbers were killed during a fierce exchange of gunfire with law enforcement personnel. The armed confrontation took place within the jurisdiction of the Saddar Sadiqabad police station. The police successfully recovered a stolen motorcycle and a cache of illicit weapons from the scene, marking a successful operation against criminal elements in the area.
Operation Under Direct Supervision
According to official police sources, a special patrol team was conducting a routine snap-checking operation, commonly known as nakabandi. This operation was part of a broader strategy to curb the rising crime rate in the region. The entire operation was being conducted under the direct supervision of ASP Inamullah, with the police party on the ground being led by Station House Officer (SHO) Saddam Hussain Dagrucha.
Chaotic Shootout and Aftermath
The situation escalated when the police team signaled a group of individuals riding motorcycles to stop for a routine inspection. Instead of complying with the orders, the suspects opened indiscriminate fire on the police personnel in a desperate attempt to escape. The police officials immediately took cover and, exercising their legal right to self-defence, returned fire tactically. Following a heavy exchange of gunfire, the shooting eventually ceased. This allowed the police to launch a comprehensive search operation in the immediate vicinity. During the subsequent sweep, two unidentified bodies were discovered. Police officials stated that the suspects were fatally wounded by the firing of their own accomplices during the chaotic shootout.
