Sindh's top administrative officer conducted a significant visit to Sukkur on Thursday, overseeing the launch of new government facilities and issuing directives for enhanced public service. Chief Secretary Syed Asif Haider Shah's tour focused on improving governance and civic infrastructure in the division.
Inauguration of New Administrative Complexes
During his official visit, the Chief Secretary, accompanied by Commissioner Sukkur Division Abid Saleem Qureshi, formally opened the new Revenue Complex in Taluka New Sukkur. The ceremony also featured the unveiling of the inauguration plaque for the Assistant Commissioner Office New Sukkur and the Mukhtiarkar Saleh Pat Revenue Complex and Residence.
Deputy Commissioner Sukkur, Nadir Shehzad Khan, and numerous other administrative officers were present at the event. The Chief Secretary engaged directly with Assistant Commissioners, inquiring about arrangements for public facilitation and the scheduled timings for addressing citizen complaints. He issued clear instructions for officers to treat the resolution of public issues as a top priority.
Focus on Public Service and E-Governance
In their briefing to the Chief Secretary, the Assistant Commissioners detailed the facilities now operational at their offices. Key improvements highlighted include the establishment of e-services for domicile issuance and the provision of separate washrooms for women, both aimed at streamlining service delivery and ensuring convenience for citizens.
As a gesture of respect, Assistant Commissioner New Sukkur Waseem Mahar and Assistant Commissioner Saleh Pat Majid Mako presented the Chief Secretary with traditional Sindhi Ajrak and Topi.
The Chief Secretary's itinerary also included a visit to the Deputy Commissioner Office Sukkur, where he inaugurated the New Deputy Commissioner Complex and the Assistant Commissioner Office for Taluka Sukkur City. Additional Deputy Commissioner Sukkur Bushra Mansoor, AC Sukkur City Saira Faraz, and Assistant Commissioners from all talukas attended this segment.
Directives for Continued Improvement and Development
Addressing a meeting at the DC Office, Chief Secretary Shah commended Sukkur's performance, noting it surpasses that of many other cities in Sindh. While expressing satisfaction with the Assistant Commissioners' work, he urged them to continue striving for further improvement.
He issued specific instructions to Deputy Commissioner Nadir Shehzad Khan, directing him to ensure the early completion of the Sukkur Circuit House. The Chief Secretary asked for the required scheme to be prepared and for personal supervision of the work. He announced that during his next visit, he would seek comprehensive briefings from the heads of all government departments operating in the district.
During the meeting, DC Nadir Shehzad Khan informed the Chief Secretary about the efficient work of polio eradication teams across Sukkur district, which has led to noticeable progress in the campaign.
Concluding his visit, the Chief Secretary, along with the Commissioner, toured key areas including SITE Area, Shikarpur Road, Military Road, and Bandar Road to inspect the city's overall condition and ongoing cleanliness drives. He appreciated the efforts of the concerned departments in maintaining improved urban services.
