Rs25,000 Honorarium for Vehari Mosque Imams Begins

The distribution of a significant monthly financial grant for mosque Imams has officially started in Vehari district. This initiative, launched by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, provides a monthly honorarium of Rs25,000 to the religious leaders.

Pay Orders Distributed at Ceremony

Deputy Commissioner Khalid Javed Goraya personally handed over the honorarium pay orders to the Imams at the Assistant Commissioner's Office. The Imams present expressed their sincere thanks to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for approving this substantial monthly support, which acknowledges their service to the community.

DC Praises Role of Religious Scholars

Addressing the gathering, DC Khalid Javed Goraya emphasized the crucial role played by Imams and religious scholars. He stated that they hold a highly respected position in society and are instrumental in providing moral guidance. The DC specifically highlighted their exemplary efforts in maintaining peace and order within Vehari, particularly during important religious events and gatherings.

Transition to Bank Transfers from February

DC Goraya also outlined the payment mechanism for the honorarium. For the month of January, the funds are being disbursed via pay orders collected from designated desks at all Assistant Commissioner offices across the district. However, starting from February, the process will be streamlined, and the Rs25,000 honorarium will be transferred directly into the bank accounts of the Imams on a regular monthly basis.

The distribution event was attended by Assistant Commissioner Anum Akram along with other district administration officers. This move is seen as a major step by the provincial government to support the religious community and recognize their year-round contributions to social harmony and spiritual leadership.
