In a significant move to oversee prison conditions, the Regional Director of the Ombudsman for Shaheed Benazirabad region, Khan Muhammad Zardari, paid a detailed visit to the District Jail Shaheed Benazirabad. The inspection aimed to conduct a thorough review of the facilities, rights, and living standards provided to inmates, alongside assessing the jail administration's performance.

During his visit, the regional director undertook an extensive tour of various sections within the jail premises. His inspection covered critical areas including the medical facilities, the availability of essential medicines, overall cleanliness, the quality of food served, and the living arrangements for prisoners. Khan Muhammad Zardari interacted directly with inmates to hear their grievances, understand their needs, and get first-hand accounts of the facilities being provided to them.

Addressing the officials present, the regional director underscored the imperative of upholding prisoners' fundamental human rights as mandated by jail laws. He emphasized the necessity of ensuring better medical treatment, a clean environment, and secure living conditions. Zardari stated that the visit was carried out under the special directives of the Provincial Ombudsman Sindh, highlighting the institution's commitment to prisoner welfare.
He further stressed the importance of providing inmates with better guidance, educational opportunities, healthcare, and other essential facilities crucial for rehabilitation and humane treatment.

On the occasion, Jail Superintendent Ghulam Rasool Mashori provided a comprehensive briefing to the visiting director. He detailed the facilities and protocols being followed for prisoners in accordance with the official Jail Manual.
The visit was attended by a team of officials from various departments, including Additional Director Social Welfare Murtaza Gauhar Salehani, Child Protection Officer Zulfiqar Rind, and Assistant Jail Superintendent Sada Hussain Zardari. Officers from the health department and other relevant departments were also present during the inspection.
