A high-level meeting to review the implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP) was conducted in Matiari district on Tuesday. Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Yousif Shaikh presided over the session, which covered a wide range of security and administrative issues.

Comprehensive Agenda for Security and Regulation

The meeting involved a thorough review of several critical areas. Security arrangements for CPEC projects and the Chinese nationals working on them were a top priority. Officials also examined the registration and security protocols for madaris, mosques, and shrines across the district.

Other key discussion points included the expulsion of foreign refugees without legal status, the demolition of illegal constructions, and ongoing actions against land-grabbing mafias. The district administration also focused on curbing economic crimes.

Crackdown on Economic Violations and Smuggling

Participants decided on stringent measures against illegal, substandard, and unlicensed petrol pumps. The meeting also formulated strategies to combat the smuggling and hoarding of essential food items to protect consumers.

Further directives were issued for action against electricity theft and operations targeting non-custom-paid vehicles, with a special emphasis on the trade of illegal cigarettes.

Strict Warning Against Anti-State Content

While addressing the officials, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Yousif Shaikh affirmed that Matiari is a peaceful district. However, he issued a clear warning that individuals who post or share anti-state or sectarian content online will not be spared. He emphasized that no one is above the law and every citizen must comply with legal statutes.

On the occasion of the anniversary of the APS Peshawar incident, he reiterated the national resolve against terrorism and extremism.

One-Window Facilitation Centre Announced

In a significant development for public service, DC Shaikh announced the establishment of a facilitation centre. This centre will provide one-window operations for several services, including:

  • Registration of madaris, mosques, and shrines.
  • Issuance of licenses for petrol pumps and flour mills.
  • Resolution of other related public matters.

The Deputy Commissioner stressed that strong inter-departmental coordination is essential for the effective resolution of these issues.

SSP Matiari Rao Arif Aslam informed the meeting that strict action will be taken against all illegal Afghan nationals, except those with valid work visas. He highlighted that cooperation from NADRA and other relevant institutions is crucial for this task.

Officers from all concerned departments provided detailed briefings during the meeting. The Deputy Commissioner directed every department to work within the NAP framework to ensure the effective implementation of all discussed agenda items.

The meeting was attended by ADC-I Matiari Noor Ahmed Khahro, ADC-II Iqra Jannat, DHO Dr. Asif Hussain Shah, all assistant commissioners of the district, Incharge Anti-Narcotics Javed Memon, Incharge IB, and officers from other relevant government departments.
