In a significant move to enhance urban greenery, the district administration of Khanewal has initiated a comprehensive campaign aimed at restoring and reviving long-neglected public parks across the city. This effort follows the recent establishment of the Parks and Horticulture Agency (PHA), which is spearheading the drive.
Surprise Inspection by Deputy Commissioner
Deputy Commissioner Maliha Rasheed personally led a surprise inspection tour to assess the condition of three parks in Gulberg and Peoples Colony that had been ignored for a considerable time. She was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner General Ghulam Mustafa and District Officer Infrastructure & Services Jan Ali.
During the visit, DC Rasheed reviewed the dismal state of these recreational spaces and issued on-the-spot instructions for their immediate rehabilitation. She directed the concerned authorities to formulate a detailed and practical plan focusing on beautification, cleanliness, and complete restoration.
Immediate Actions and Broader Vision
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that work must begin without delay in all neglected parks. She also inspected the ongoing beautification work along the green belts of City Gate and GT Road, directing further improvements to uplift the city's overall appearance.
Speaking on the occasion, Maliha Rasheed stated that the district administration is fully committed to providing a clean, green, and beautiful environment to the citizens. She highlighted that the newly formed Parks and Horticulture Agency will be instrumental in developing parks according to modern standards and ensuring their proper upkeep in the future.
A Priority for Public Welfare
The DC further informed that work has already started for the proper care and maintenance of existing plants in parks and green belts. She reiterated that the revival of these green spaces is a top administrative priority.
"These efforts will not only enhance the beauty of Khanewal but also provide healthy recreational facilities to the public," the Deputy Commissioner added, underlining the campaign's dual benefit for the city's aesthetics and its residents' well-being.
