Hyderabad Crackdown: DC Bans Fireworks, Orders Midnight Hall Closure
Hyderabad DC Orders FIRs Against Fireworks, Encroachments

Hyderabad's administration has launched a comprehensive crackdown on public safety violations following a high-level meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Zain-ul-Abideen Memon. The urgent session addressed growing concerns about law and order in the city.

Strict Measures Against Dangerous Practices

Expressing serious concern over last week's tragic incident and rising irregularities, DC Zain-ul-Abideen Memon declared that the sale and use of fireworks, aerial firing, and firecrackers in Hyderabad is absolutely unacceptable. He issued immediate directions for police to register FIRs against anyone involved in fireworks or firing at wedding halls, banquets, and major hotels.

The deputy commissioner also mandated mandatory closure of all wedding halls by midnight, a move aimed at preventing late-night disturbances and ensuring public safety. This decision comes as part of broader efforts to maintain peace in residential areas.

City-Wide Encroachment Removal Drive

Addressing the city's growing encroachment problem, the DC ordered the immediate removal of illegal structures at hotels, roadside cafes, cabins, and unauthorized parking spots. He specifically targeted all forms of soft encroachments across Hyderabad, emphasizing that removed items must not be returned under any circumstances.

In a significant consumer-friendly move, the administration also ordered an immediate halt to parking fee collection by supermarkets and shopping malls. This decision aims to reduce the financial burden on citizens and eliminate unauthorized charging practices.

Police Accountability and Immediate Action

SSP Adeel Hussain Chandio, who attended the meeting alongside assistant commissioners, civil defence officials, and relevant SHOs, described last week's incident as extremely shameful and distressing. He warned that negligence will no longer be tolerated in any police jurisdiction.

The SSP issued a stern warning that if a similar incident occurs again within an SHO's limits, the concerned officer will be held directly responsible. He directed strict action against:

  • Fireworks dealers
  • Illegal LPG shops
  • LPG cylinders operations
  • Illegal petrol pumps operating beneath residential buildings

The meeting concluded with a firm decision to maintain a zero-tolerance policy against fireworks and aerial firing. Large-scale operations will be carried out against encroachments, parking mafias, illegal LPG shops, and all unauthorized activities across Hyderabad.

Authorities have been directed to begin on-ground actions immediately while assistant commissioners and civil defence officers conduct a joint survey and submit their report within one week.
