In a tragic incident that has shocked the local community, a man in Gujar Khan allegedly took the lives of his own daughter and a young man, while also critically wounding his wife in what authorities are describing as an honour-related killing. According to police officials, the suspect, identified as Nadeem Sarwar, reportedly discovered a young man named Rehman Ullah inside the room of his 22-year-old daughter, Shamail Zahra, late on Tuesday night. Consumed by rage, Sarwar is alleged to have opened fire, resulting in the immediate deaths of both Shamail and Rehman. During the ensuing chaos and confrontation, his 45-year-old wife, Sahira Nadeem, sustained serious gunshot wounds.
Police Response and Investigation Details
Law enforcement was alerted to the gruesome scene at approximately 4:30 am on Wednesday. SDPO Gujar Khan, ASP Syed Danial Hassan, confirmed that police teams reached the location promptly. The bodies of the two victims were transferred to the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital in Gujar Khan for necessary medico-legal procedures. Meanwhile, the injured woman was rushed to the same medical facility, where she remains in critical condition.
The investigation gained momentum with the arrival of SSP Investigations Rawalpindi, Raja Nasir, who personally visited the crime scene and issued directives to the local police. Inspector Raja Tasadaqur Rehman from the Homicidal Crime Investigations Unit (HCIU) provided further context, revealing that both deceased individuals were employed at a nearby private hospital.
Shamail Zahra was a 22-year-old resident of Gujar Khan, while Rehman Ullah, aged 21, originally hailed from Peshawar and was temporarily residing at a private hostel in the area. The inspector noted that Rehman had been seen visiting the girl's house on previous occasions. The family had reportedly warned him against nocturnal visits and had urged him to formalise his relationship with Shamail through marriage. Police state that the accused claimed these warnings were disregarded, leading to the fatal confrontation.
