DC Vehari Reviews Dengue Measures & Education Campaign

Vehari District Intensifies Multi-Pronged Government Initiatives

In a series of coordinated efforts, the district administration of Vehari, under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Imrana Touqeer, is vigorously implementing key public welfare programs. The focus remains on a robust anti-dengue campaign, the promotion of special education, and ensuring public safety and quality healthcare across the district.

Strict Anti-Dengue Measures and Public Awareness

Chairing a high-level meeting, Deputy Commissioner Imrana Touqeer conducted a comprehensive review of the district's anti-dengue measures. She issued clear directives for the strict enforcement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and called for significantly improved coordination between all relevant departments. A major component of the strategy involves intensifying both indoor and outdoor surveillance to identify and eliminate potential breeding grounds for the dengue mosquito.

The DC emphasized that prompt legal action must be taken against any individuals or entities found violating the anti-dengue regulations. Furthermore, she instructed officials to launch extensive public awareness campaigns, specifically targeting schools and mosques, to educate citizens on essential preventive measures. Regular inspections of high-risk locations, including tyre shops, junkyards, and nurseries, have been ordered to systematically destroy any existing breeding sites.

Special Children Admission Campaign Gains Momentum

Parallel to the health drive, the Department of Special Education in Vehari is actively continuing its campaign to enroll special children. Under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner, District Officer Zeeshan Ahmad, alongside official Zakia Tariq and other team members, visited various localities to personally motivate parents to enroll their children.

District Officer Ahmad stated that the education and training of special children is a core mission of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. He highlighted that the Punjab Government is providing free education, uniforms, transport, and other necessary facilities to empower these children and help them become productive and valued members of society.

Ensuring Public Safety and Healthcare Quality

In a move to bolster public safety, Assistant Commissioner Anam Akram, accompanied by Civil Defense Officer Muhammad Rehan, paid a surprise visit to the fuel tanker stand at Pir Murad. She thoroughly reviewed the existing safety arrangements and the planned relocation measures for the tankers. AC Akram firmly stated that public safety is the top priority and confirmed that the fuel tankers would be shifted to a safer area, away from residential localities.

On the healthcare front, acting on the directions of Secretary Health Punjab Nadia Saqib, Special Secretary South Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Hussain conducted inspections of hospitals and Maryam Nawaz Health Centers in Vehari, Tibba Sultanpur, and Sahar. He was accompanied by CEO Health Dr. Fahad. During his visit, he meticulously reviewed patient care services, staff attendance, and the availability of medicines. He expressed particular appreciation for a free eye camp where more than 40 surgeries were successfully conducted. The Special Secretary reaffirmed that ensuring free and quality healthcare for all citizens remains a top priority for the Punjab Government.
