Bahawalpur DRC Resolves 11 Land Disputes

In a significant move towards accessible justice, the District-level Dispute Resolution Committees (DRCs) in Bahawalpur have intensified their operations, achieving a major success in the Yazman area. The committee, in its latest meeting, successfully settled 11 long-standing land-related conflicts, bringing relief to citizens entangled in protracted legal matters.

A Swift and Transparent Process

The pivotal meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Dr Farhan Farooq. According to the district administration, the resolved cases included some that had been pending for years. The committee ensured a thorough and fair process by hearing both parties involved in each dispute. Crucially, revenue records were examined on the spot, and key property documents such as ownership deeds, registries, and mutations were verified immediately.

This on-the-spot verification led to decisive actions. Illegal occupations were removed without delay, and in each instance, rightful possession was restored to the legitimate owners. The entire process was conducted with complete transparency, with all decisions announced openly in the presence of both parties to guarantee fairness and clarity.

Commitment to Public Relief and Legal Rights

Deputy Commissioner Dr Farhan Farooq has encouraged all citizens facing land or property issues to approach the DRC without any hesitation. He assured the public that if a claim is proven valid based on revenue records, the matter will be resolved promptly, fairly, and transparently. He emphasized that the Government of Punjab and the district administration are fully committed to protecting the legal rights of citizens and shielding them from the burdens of unnecessary litigation.

Dr. Farhan highlighted the active role of DRCs as "a milestone in providing relief to the public," noting that these committees are specifically designed to bring justice directly to the people's doorstep. He also referenced the Property Protection Ordinance 2025, which is being enforced across Punjab to strengthen these efforts.

High-Level Participation and Future Initiatives

The important meeting saw attendance from key officials, including District Police Officer Muhammad Hassan Iqbal and Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Captain (retd) Tayyab Sami Khan, alongside officers from the revenue departments. The administration has stated that such proactive initiatives will continue, aiming to ensure timely justice for all and to significantly strengthen public trust in local governance systems.
