Pakistani security forces have successfully neutralized a dozen terrorists with alleged links to Indian intelligence during a targeted operation in Balochistan's Kalat district. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed the elimination of the militants in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) conducted on December 6.
Operation Details and Fierce Encounter
According to the official military statement, the operation was launched based on credible intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists affiliated with the group known as Fitna al Hindustan. After tracking the militants to their hideout, a heavy exchange of fire took place between the security personnel and the terrorists.
The ISPR reported that 12 terrorists were killed in the ensuing gunfight. A subsequent search of the area led to the recovery of a significant cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives from the slain militants' possession.
National Leadership Lauds Success
The successful operation drew immediate praise from the country's top leadership. President Asif Ali Zardari paid tribute to the security forces, expressing his satisfaction with the anti-terrorism measures in Kalat. He asserted that Pakistan possesses the full capability to bring the enemies of peace to justice and that the nation's resolve will defeat every conspiracy hatched by Fitna al Hindustan.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also commended the forces for their successful operation. He emphasized that in the war against terrorism, the entire nation stands united with its armed forces, determined to completely eradicate all forms of terrorism from the country.
Ongoing Campaign Against Foreign-Sponsored Terrorism
The ISPR statement clarified that operations are continuing in the area to eliminate any remaining terrorists sponsored by hostile agencies. This action is part of the broader, nationwide counterterrorism campaign under the "Azm-e-Istehkam" initiative.
This initiative, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, is designed to proceed at full pace to root out what the state describes as foreign-sponsored terrorism from Pakistani soil. The Kalat IBO is seen as a significant blow to networks operating with external support, reinforcing the state's commitment to national security.
