Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar chaired a committee meeting on Thursday to review preparations for the 2027 SAARC Games in Pakistan. During the meeting, Dar highlighted the government's resolve to promote games and sports activities across the country, emphasizing that such events would further strengthen Pakistan's soft image globally, according to a press release from the DPM's Office.
Key Decisions and Immediate Actions
The committee decided to immediately establish the SAARC Games Secretariat in Islamabad, fast-track the upgradation of the Pakistan Sports Complex, and constitute key sub-committees to oversee finances, infrastructure, and venues. These steps aim to ensure the games are delivered to international standards.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to extending full support and cooperation to national sports federations to prepare and train athletes for outstanding performances.

The meeting was attended by Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Rana Sanaullah Khan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, Secretary IPC, high officials from provincial departments, the Sports Board, and other relevant government institutions. The formation of sub-committees will ensure focused oversight on financial management, infrastructure development, and venue readiness.
