Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister reviewed the province-wide monsoon contingency plan on Saturday, emphasizing the need for comprehensive preparedness to mitigate the impact of expected heavy rains and potential floods.

Review Meeting Details

The meeting, chaired by the Chief Minister, was attended by senior officials from the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the Irrigation Department, and other relevant departments. The CM was briefed on the current stock of relief goods, deployment of rescue teams, and the condition of embankments and drainage systems across the province.

Key Directives

The Chief Minister issued several directives to ensure an effective response. He ordered the PDMA to maintain a high state of alert and ensure that all rescue and relief equipment is fully operational. Additionally, he instructed the Irrigation Department to complete all repairs and desilting of canals and drains before the onset of the monsoon season.

Coordination with Federal Agencies

It was also decided to enhance coordination with federal agencies, including the Pakistan Meteorological Department and the National Disaster Management Authority, to receive timely weather alerts and technical support.

The Chief Minister reiterated that no negligence would be tolerated in safeguarding the lives and property of the people. He assured that the provincial government would utilize all available resources to minimize the impact of the monsoon season.
